Any ideas what this is?

    I have had my tank for going on 3 years. It still amazes me how new things just pop up out of the blue. Sorry the pics are kinda blurry, but whatever this is, its really small and hard for the camera to focus with the surface agetation. Its on a piece of live that was one of the first pieces I bought. As you can see in the pics, Its a dark red with little stubby arms. Its about 1/4 inch in diameter. One pic is with flash one without

    I added more pics to the original post

    It could be a sponge, but I don't have any other red sponges, or it could some kind of finger coral?

    That is it! Its a Homotrema rubrum (Red Foram). Still don't know where it came from, lol

    They are pretty cool. They most likely came in with your live rock. Even though they are pretty much dumber than dirt, they move around (albeit very slowly). They were likely in a hole or cavern in your LR and moved themselves to be more exposed to the current.

    If you look VEEEERY carefully at this picture, you will see the feeding mechanisms coming from the tips.
