A friend of mine has a 34 gal. Red Sea Max and is moving. They had too much lr and xenia, so they gave some to me. Now I know that my tank is too young (two weeks) to be adding stuff to just yet, but they needed to get rid of it and I had no where else to put it, soooo...

I now have some kelp, xenia, green star coral, three mushrooms, and a cabbage coral. I also think that I have an aiptasia [FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]anemone. Apparently they did not know what it was and are developing quite a proliferation of the stuff. I ordered Aiptasia X from Marine Depot. I am hoping to get rid of the stinker before it gets out of hand.

Today I found a little guy growing on my glass thermometer. He is about the size of a pinhead, maybe smaller. Don't laugh, but I took his picture through the removable eye piece of my telescope. It was the only thing that I had that would magnify him enough to get a pic. Even so, I am not sure there is enough detail to get a postive id. Can anyone tell me what he is? When I pulled the thermometer out of the water he did not retract, so maybe a xenia? But what the heck would it be doing there?

Btw, I have had lr in my tank for only one week. Surely it is too soon to be seeing anything from there, isn't it?

Wow, I have no idear what that is but I'm sure someone here knows.

As for the new addtions to a new tank. Just keep an eye on your ammonia and water parameters. watch for the spike. when it happens make sure to take care of it before it takes care of your new additions.
also might want to supplement the water with reef bugs or zooplankton or
whatever is good food for the xenia since the new water and the move from tank to tank might be limiting there food.

Just my two pennies. may not be very shinny either.
