so I have been doing this for a few years now and the only fish I have been able to keep is my maroon clown. Every thing else dies. Coral I have no problem keeping and making thrive. the only coral I have lost is a acro. I actualy abuse my coral more then anything. So my question is Are fish really harder to keep then coral?

Depends on the tank. Are your parameters in check? Where do you get your livestock?

Also, maroons can be very mean sometimes. acclimating fish may have a hard time getting used to tank if the existing fish are mean and stress the new fish out.

I've been ok. I've had 2 of my tangs for about 2 years now and the other for 6 months with no issues. I've also had my flame hawk for about 2 years as well as my maroon clown and my black perc. The only fish I have had die in a few years now has been my bluejaw trigger

    Hi 10 Acrewoods

I can say that from my experience you can add a coral at more or less any time after a tank has been set up, and providing your water quality is in check and you can provide the conditions it prefers in terms of flow and lighting, rarely do you get any major issues , and when you do its usually because somethings happens out of the norm (temp issue, power out, fall, etc etc )

fish on the other hand can be frustrating at times - example you have 3 fish, they are doing well, its been a couple of months, you want to add another fish - and then the problems start, the new fish gets parasites or the old fish do, or any problems can creep in simply because you have upset the harmony that previously existed in the tank

it doesnt occur all the time for all people
I cant begin to explain why sometimes it does happen

but I do "feel" what you are saying because I have experienced similar frustrations in the past

I can join the club. I have definitely lost more fish than corals.

i started as a wide eyed newbie in november. so far i think ive done rather well in both regaards. the 2 corals ive killed , a gorgonian and a goniopora , was more because of them being more difficult for a newb. and ive had 3 fish die , royal gramma , not sure why , as i thought they were fairly easy. a black capped basslet , he jumped so outta my control . and a red scooter blennie , which my mistake my tank was too young. but the rest in my sig are all doing quite well. so all in all , think ive done good.

lets be clear in this matter , fish need very very clean water if your water dont look kristal clear your fish spesial the tang will die soon , first sign will be the ich paracite, white spot so mentaine your parameter ,clean your filter , and tank by vacumming the dirt from the bottom of you tank regulary. that my advice to you.
