Well if you like the sound of a flushing toilet all the time then you'll have no problem with its use.. Any sure bucket make the sound and then you will hear the drains in the tank to the sump also gurgle a bit more if you are trying to use the mega float silent type drains for the tank to the sump they really don't handle the sudden surge very well either. I ran flush buckets or surge devices for a few yrs. and they made little difference in the tanks ability to keep Sps or any type corals I saw no real benefits in there usage one way or the other Good bad or indifferent. Neat toy but the noise gets old fast IMO..

I thought wave makers were the way to go. Wow 4 mj 1200 in a 65g sounds like alot of flow. Your flow should only be 650 gph for a 65g,(that's 10x) yours is 1180gph yours is 18x. I had to remove 2 powerheads in my tank because my flow was way too much for the corals. And now it's not as unsightly.

3 off them are on a wave timer strip so they are not all on at the same time 15 second intervals. Plus my tank is deep so i need them point at different angles. That is why i am interested in the botom and top flow on the 2K.

you can't judge gallon per hour as a correct method of deciding flow for your system.....sometimes 10x turnover works...sometimes 50x turnover works, it also varies on what type of inhabitants you are keeping. in my opinion, 20-30x turnover has worked best for me...just make sure that substrate isn't being kicked around and all life within the tank are recieving a variable surge.

the wave2k or the tunze wave box is a much better way to promote flow within a tank as opposed to a bunch of powerheads, consistent flushing vs. constant direct flow.

Nemo The internal circulation of the tank is not considered the turn over rate.. And when I started seeing the stuff about 10x the tanks water through a sump LOL that can be a lot of flow . I guess if they are running smaller tanks then maybe but when you get to the larger ones no way.. I'm not sure depending on what corals are being kept that the internal circulation is or ever can be to much..ie. power heads or flush buckets.. I liked the looks of the flushing devices and all but the sound just got to be to much for me after a few hrs. IMO As for true turn over through a sump for a reef and the skimmer 5x it what I have always try to average.. with any reef tank.

Perhaps I am thinking of the wrong thing, but I could have sworn the Wave2K was a product that sat in the tank.

This would mean that the unit was silent, or at least close to it. I don't see where any toilet flushing noise would come into play as there's never any air being introduced into the unit.

I don't own one. Ask Coral Reefer. Last time I was at his place he had one though it wasn't set up yet. Only issues I knew of them was the drive belt problems they had in the past but I am sure after all this time it's been corrected.

You are correct, it sit in the tank. I got the corner unit, just hope it fits with the wall as i need 6" clearance for the motr, it is going to be really close. Plus it will be close to the live rock.
