Does anyone have any experience using poly ox to help remove organic debris and sludge? I want to use it in my 120g FOWLR. Is it safe and does it work?

Back in the old days, people would use products like this to oxidize DOC's and sludge. However, it fell out of favor because it's too easy to nuke your tank. It had to be added in a VERY CONTROLLED fashion because if you accidentally use too much....bye bye tank. It can somewhat be controlled by dosing Hydrogen Peroxide but just like the magnanic acids, too much and bye bye tank.

KMnO4 is still used in large outdoor ponds but I would be afraid to use it in a reef tank.

I have used it to help with a red slime problem in my tank. If used, follow directions EXACTLY. I also measured the drops out into an old glass jar and added tank water to it before taking my baster and squirting it where it was needed most.

1 bottle should last a lifetime-almost as you only use 3 drops per gallon of tank water.

I agree with the others--extreme caution is required when using this.
