Any one use this skimmer

    yeah I think you will be happy with it, especially in a 55 gallon tank.

    Marine Depot had a wide selection of ASM's. I got mine from DIYReef.com, they had some as well. I also run a octopus on my 40, and it's a great skimmer.
    But owning both brands, I will have to go against John and say ASM is not higher end than Octopus. IMHO, Octopus's are built better (thicker acrylic, a little better worksmanship, a little more robust construction), but with that said, the ASM's are still good units.

    It looks like a carbon copy of my Aqua Euro USA skimmer. I have the 250 Model for my 110 Gal and it does an awesome job. The 135 would be the model for you Aqua Euro USA Protein Skimmers Skimmer at Reef Playground. I was looking for the most bang for my buck and I couldn't be happier.

    Mine keeps up with the bioload just fine as is. I thought the same about the pump thing but I haven't had any reason to change the stock pumps, it works like a dream. If I ever wanted to change pumps the connections are pretty standard so this would be no problem.
