    ceriths and nerites eat diatoms. they keep coming back until the bio-available silica is depleted, but it helps take the edge off.

    Yeah it is only a month old. I just went ahead and cleaned my tank and its all gone at the moment lol. It was so depressing seeing it like that i hope it clears up soon.. Thanks everyone.. i would still like to know what you think would be a good overall clean up crew for a 60 gal tank.. Thanks everyone

    +1 on reefcleaners.

    Send John the custom clean up crew request and he will give you his recommendations. And with the way he sets it up, you can get as much or as little as he suggests. Much better than the "packages" that other places have.

    During my cycle my tank had a bad breakout of diatom algae because of all the new silicates. It was absolutely everywhere and increased by the hour!! After 2-3 weeks the diatom algae completely died off on its own because it had nothing to feed on. But while I was having the break out I got some astrea snails who did a really good job eating it!
