Thanks. I do agree the stainless would look much better than the blue aluminium one I have now. I'll keep this one in mind. :)

Also I've been seeing more and more stuff from Park Tool for bike repair equipment. I hadn't really ever heard of it until recently. - Your thoughts?

I'd like to slowly collect tools in order to flip more bikes and resell them. I don't have all the proper tools of my own, and a bike stand is definitely high on the list.

I finally got around to putting the break hoods on today. And I never noticed it, but just the cog set, crank and gear shifters are of the Shimano 600 line. The brakes and levers are Dia-Compe. I guess these hoods are more authentic than I originally thought.

They look similar to these. I can't tell for sure without seeing the front view of the lever.

It's really cold and windy out, so this is taking a while. I did the left one, still have to do the right side.

    Pics up in a bit.

I don't generally dabble in bike repair, as I have a fully qualified LBS. After all, paying for a stand and tools is just cost prohibitive when I have other hobbies like reefing. I guess I'd ask your shop what they use. At the very least you'll want 2 stands, a truing station, pedal wrench, tyre levers, various allen and hex keys, screwdrivers, grease, dry grease, degreaser, air compressor...

Honestly unless you're going for a niche college market (does your campus have a shop?) or you're going to be restoring steel roadies to their former glory I feel like most people would lean toward going to their LBS rather than through a 3rd party.

Alot of bike manufacturers will include non gruppo brakesets to save on weight. My bike came with Tektros but the Sram Apex brakes are much better. I just don't wanna splurge right now as the frag swap is coming up and I'd like to get a mag trainer.

By chance do you know where I can get new reflectors, possibly a pedal? Can even buy pedals singly? The right one is sort of smushed inward toward the bike, but it's only really hurting aesthetics. It works just fine.

Thanks. My LBS isn't hiring unfortunately. I'd like to get more into the cycling hobby, I think flipping bikes would be a cool part time job (in the summer at least) and also help me do that at the same time. I'll look into the tools more.

I enjoy reefing, but I am keeping my nano tank until i get out of college. I don't plan to invest much more money into it (except maybe on coral).

I'm going to be needing a car soon as well so I don't think I'll be buying a new bike which puts me out of cycling. Does your campus have a shop?

I'm still working on getting my license, but I'd rather bike most places rather than drive. It's more cost efficient and just convenient if I'm by myself and not going very long distances.

We don't have a designated shop on campus, but we do have an "orange bike program." It's run by Campus Operations, I believe. They take all the bikes left over at the end of the year and paint them orange to be used by students on campus for the following year. They might have general parts I could get, maybe even whole frames to start with for other bikes.
