maybe someone can help me out. Im running 2 filters in my 37 gallon tank. Im having a huge problem with the Aquaclear 70 model. It has sucked in 2 Glofish in the past week and killed them. I have it turned down as low as it will go, does anyone know of a way to prevent this, is there a cover that will keep the fish out, or some kind of attachment to help. Please help asap, Ive got 3 other Glo's swimming around. On both occassions I had the xtra pipe attached so it would reach lower in the tank.

Buy a less powerful filter? That is obviously too strong if it's sucking them up! Poor guys. You could try attaching some mesh to the bottom of the tube to cover up the holes.

You are running it with the pre-filter (the attachment with small groves on it) right? Because if you are, there is no way goldfish could be sucked up. If you're running it without it on (the ONLY way it could suck goldfish up), well then I think we solved your problem.

there are sponge attachments for filters that you can use. check this:

Aquarium Pre Filter; Filter Max intake filters for HOB, canister filters, etc.

They are prefilters that cover the intake. You can also do a simple DIY with any tank-safe synthetic material for far less. Or you can also cap the bottom of the intake (tube) and drill several small holes up the length of it to lessen the force of suction by spreading it out

there's just 2 ways that may help you....
Either you can use a less powerful filter, or you can use some kind of net on your filter so that it doesn't suck in any fish.

If it sucked them in it sounds like you do not have the strainer on the end of the lift tube. You can also use something like the 3/4"x6.5" model pictured here to spread the intake area out which reduces the entrance velocity. the 3/4" model should slip over you existing tube with little modification.
