You can see everything I've got going on in my tank in my sig.
I am waiting until Feb after my levels are perfect for my corals before I add any more fish...one thing at a time.
I have a healthy small watchman goby who is more shy than bold and want to choose more fish that will live harmoniously in my tank. This time I want to do my research. When I first got my tank I bought a marine betta when the chick at my LFS said he's be fine in a 30g then quickly returned him. ::)

Of course I like clownfish but would prefer to have one paired with an anenome which is not all too common and anenomes can be risky.
I use to have a bicolor pseudochromis in my 75 but fear this may be too territorial of a fish to share a 30g.
My son wants a blue powder tang but Im not sure if I'm ready for that risk.
LOVE mandarin goby's but again, sensitive fish.
    A small yellow tang? Possibly.
Definitely fish that won't pick my soft corals.

So, if you were me and only starting with a yellow watchman for livestock in a 30g peaceful reef, what would you buy? ;D

here's my tank! (on a bad soft coral day. don't judge me lol)

I definitely wouldn't try any sort of Tangs. Most Tangs need a minimum of at least 100 gallons.

I also wouldn't recommend any Dragonettes.

Maybe try some sort of Cardinalfish :)

Edit: I would upgrade your filter if you are planning on getting more than 2-3 fish. Either that, or do frequent water changes ;)

well, 30G plus peaceful reef doesn't leave many options, especially for tangs, none will fit in there, and the powder is one of the most aggressive and needs about 4 of your tanks minimum, the yellow about 3 of them min...sorry

here's a good place to start looking

for a 30 gal, you could do a Cardinalfish as mentioned, Possum Wrasse, Firefish, Assessor, smaller Blenny (like Tailspot or similar), Royal Gramma or Blackcap Basslet, or Clowns (add last!). Definitely no Tangs of any kind (as mentioned, pretty much a 100 gal minimum on even the smallest) and no to Dragonetts such as Mandarins; they will starve in a tank that small :(

Still have plenty of good options though!

I would also recommend building a mesh top so that the fish don't jump ;)
