    Hello fellow Reefers!

Just got started about 3 months ago on my 46gal bowfront with a wet/dry sump and 2 96w pc with 1 blue and 1 50/50 of daylight and blue. I have a approx. 60lbs of live rock, several types of polyps, mushrooms, xenia, a hammer, an aleveopora, and a leather so far as well as numerous inverts and 10 fish.

I've been doing some research on protein skimmers and it seems like every time I find one that seems good and affordable I read something about it that leads me to believe otherwise. I'm in need of some good advise on buying a protein skimmer that is good and affordable. I don't want some piece of junk that is going to be a constant problem but I also don't want to drop a couple hundred on one either. Guess you could say I want my cake and eat it too!...LOL!;D

Anyway if anybody can help me out I would really appreciate it!;D

    Talk to you all later!

Welcome To 3reef!!!!!!!! I Have Heard Good Things About The Corallife Skimmers And Also The Aqua C Line Skimmers. I Dont Think You Can Go Wrong With These Choices For The Price.

definatly take a look at the coral life skimmer. the one i had (model 65)rocked on my 29 gallon. oh and one question what kind of fish do you have in your tank? i saw you said 10 and that seems like quite a bit. although i can't really say that without knowing what is in there.

Dollar for Dollar and simple to use and tried and true for many many yrs. the old Turbo flotor or its first cousin the old Red Sea Berlin Classic can't be beat. I have red seas and turbos still skimming away after many yrs and a few replacement pumps that wore out . But the skimmers still rock.

I haven't tried all the above stated skimmers, but I can say my AquaC Urchin (in sump skimmer) works great. About one week of break in and a slight adjustment after, and I haven't fooled with it since. Skims like crazy... Oh yea, it'll run you around $160-$200, depending on size, which isn't too bad..

    Thank you!

    Hey Everybody!

Thank you for all of your help so far. I'm swaying twards the Coralife skimmers right now. They seem like a great price and arn't as expensive as some. This is my first tank so on my next I'm sure I'll be investing in something like an Aqua C. I'm really glad I found this site and asked before jumping in and buying a piece of crap like some on ebay.

    Thanks again,

    Brandon
