Starting to think about the sump for my next aquarium set up, but was wondering if I could get some feed back on my current idea. The space it has to fit is very limited, so im going to have to make the sump my self out of acrylic. I am thinking of making the water from the tank drain out between the fuge and skimmer area controlled by T-valves. For the return pump, i am thinking of making a separate box that will sit in the skimmer area with the baffles built into it.

Any thoughts on what you think will/wont work?

    Thanks!

    few basic questions :
what size tank will this support?
what are the diimentions of the sump box?
what return pump will you use?
    what skimmer? (base footprint?)

The tank is a 72g bow front. The sump is going to be 19x17 and be 16 tall so little over 20g. The skimmer is an octx 160 and has a footprint of 8x10. Haven't quite decided on the return pump yet, but from what i have seen they do not tend to be to large.

I was also thinking of just ditching the fuge and putting the skimmer in that area then put live rock and the heater and place the return pump on a stand instead of in a box. This would mean i would need to include baffles between the two sections though.

    I would suggest using a 30 Breeder 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 12 15/16

This is the basic recommended design minus the ball valve on the left in the overflow line (it could cause a blockage resulting in a disaster)

I like this sump/fuge. How do you draw and apply to the thread without using attachments?

it's someone else's drawing, I saved a copy of it to a website I own and then just paste the web address into the insert image dialog box.
