If you have the cash Dewalt is a no brainer followed by milwaukee! i have an all purpose porter cable cordless set at my house i like as a value option, but not sure its an everyday tool! more of a weekend warrior here and there home use! So i guess i'd say it depends on budget and amount of use and what type of use!

Black and Decker for power tools. They're inexpensive, and last forever for occasional home use.

Craftsman for mechanical tools. 100% lifetime guarantee- the only requirement is that the tool is broken/unusable and the Craftsman name is visible on it.

I bought a reconditioned 18v lithium ion drill with two high capacity batteries and a quick charger from Tool King for not much more just two batteries and a charger from HD. Couldn't tell it from new. Forgot I also have a 12" compound miter saw, air compressor, and biscuit joiner. :p

I have been a tile setter for 11 years and want something that will last a good while. On the Dewalts, whats the charge time for batteries? My Hitachi drained fast and took forever to charge.

30 minutes with the fast charger, usually goes quicker. Lithium batteries have full power before they're dead.

I have a 12" diamond blade on the miter saw to dry cut 1-1/4" granite backsplash. The tool has to be tough to do that. They last for years.

Hmmm... all the auto repair businesses around my area have sworn by Craftsman for as long as I can remember. With an unconditional lifetime guarantee, they couldn't afford to make second-rate tools.

Bought a 18v Dewalt hammer drill in 2000, it $289 +tax. It finally died last year, doing HVAC install and service is tough on drills. Replaced 1 battery after about 7 years, and replaced the charger and a battery after my helper left it at a job in Starkville Ms a year later. I always ran the batteries completly dead before recharging. So I would have to vote for the Dewalt.
