It will not fix permanently but will work for long while if a good enough job is done. I have done it. But hey you have more experience than I do. I am no master mechanic.

thanks alot for the help and support everyone.the stuff I used is called VersaChem instant gas tank repair, so as long as it holds for at least a week or 2 Ill be happy. I talked the management at my appartment, mostly just to nodify them that this is going on again, other then that all they did is give me a number to contact the police and make a report. but at least my dad offered to lend me the money for a new tank. so I hope that this doesnt happen to any of you but at least you know now that if you seem to be going through gas alot quicker, you might have a screw in your gas tank lol. the part that makes me the most angry is that he didnt steal the gas or anything like that, he was just doing it simply to be a jerk and cause problems for people. you can clearly see a babys car seat in the back seat of the truck and that didnt make him feel the least bit guilty about doing it

should i call the police and make a report like the manager told me, I just cant think of anything they can really do. they came out the first time this was going on so obviously they diddnt help to much, but is there an upside to filing a report that I am overlooking?

hell yes, make a report, this is a fellony. do the math what it would cost to fix. if you have full coverage insurance, I would turn it in, they may fix it for you at no cost on your end.

If you want to file a claim on your insurance, you will need a police report...... depending on how much the new tank costs, might be worth looking into. not sure if it would be worth it or not as you probably have a deductible and it could make your premium go up.

I know this is an old post, but the correct way to fix the tank would have been to drop the whole tank fill it water to remove the fumes, then have it welded. I know this is no help now but for future reference... I'm a mechanic and this isn't the first time I've had to fix a gas tank that someone drilled through. But that would have been the cheapest and safest way.
