It might be combination of a young tank and questionable quality of livestock. Does the tank have a ground probe?

Well, if it makes you feel any better...I've been through two clowns since January. I don't really know what's up. One went down to...we'll call it "new tank syndrome", but I'm not 100% sure on that. And the other wasn't doing good from the day we brought him home. It was weird. He was fine at the LFS for a whole week (we had him on hold), but he just wouldn't stay off the surface laying on his side.

I had a cardinal that had a very similar thing or not exact as what your clown did. It had the white, stringy poop coming from its rear. It would hang there for a long time and just dangle. I think it was a bacterial infection, I had him in the QT for a few days, and this developed. I didn't know how to treat or nor did i know what it was, and he died in a couple days.

The next day I went to my LFS, and saw went to the tank I bought him from. Every single cardinal in that tank had the same exact disease. There were at least 6 of them.

I didn't read the whole post. Did it develop a long while after you had him, or shortly when you bought him?

Havent had a fish in 2 weeks so I think I will wait it out before I get another. I also bought a coralife ground probe yesterday to eleminate any doubt of stray voltage
