I admit I have some obsessive compulsive traits ;D and I have come to discover that humans are not the only one with OCD! I had a pug that I guess worried that he would run out of food so every day I had to open up the plastic food container so he could see the food. If his bowl got below a certain level he would cry and bark at it and would not eat anything else until I filled it. If the food container was low he actually paced the kitchen!

WELL, it has passed onto my current dogs! My yorkie is very obsessive about WHERE her food bowl is and WHAT type of bowl it is. A couple weeks ago I dropped a glass bottle right into the food area, shattering everywhere. We were afraid that shivers of glass might have been ground in that area so we blocked off that area and moved their bowl to another part in the kitchen....right by the plastic food container. All the dogs loved it (as apparently they are very lazy and they can see us in the living room) Well after many sweeps we moved their bowl back to the original space. Sassy for 3 days sat at the plastic container and scratched and barked at it. We would pick her up and place her by her food bowl, but NOPE! She kept barking and is just now starting to eat back in the old spot

The 3 dogs like to eat together, so we bought a larger plastic bowl so they can all eat at the same time (I know....but they do well). Umm, Sassy does not like the new bowl and has spent all last night barking at it and running to us and barking! I dont think she has ate yet! The other 2 love it!

how old are your yorkies? my sheltie use to bark at his food bowl when he was a puppy, but now really doesn't even like it, so i bought a treat ball on a whim turns out he will only eat food from that. also he prefers to drink water outside. dog barks to go out and then just gets a drink then comes back in such a nut ball.

    Not a dog but...

We have a ferret that stacks her treats perfectly. They are star shaped and even the stars line up perfectly.

What about your crazy dog that doesn't actually play with toys but will wear itself out protecting them so the other dogs can't have them?

That's too funny. I had a friend with a racoon (I don't know why, I know people with skunks, flying squirrels, and 'possums too) that always had to have it's food wet. We would give him sugar cubes and then it would dissolve before he could eat them. :cheesy:

I use to have a pet skunk. She was the only pet that never bit me. My parents got her as a baby just before I popped out. One time I yanked on her tail and all she did was turn around and give me that look. I'd like to see someone try that with another animal. I would love to get another skunk.

My parents have 3 guinea pigs in the same cage. This cage has 2 water bottles and 2 food dishes. They eat out of both food dishes but only 1 water bottle. My parents have even tried switching the water bottles to the other side to see if they just happen to like that side. They went right over to their moved bottle that was now on the other side of the cage. They wait in line to use it and everything.

Oh, the stories that I could tell about my dog's OCD behavior......I have papillions and I think the breed is born with OCD. When the dogs are fed, the older one refuses to eat until the water bowl is filled with fresh water. Even if I have just filled it hours before. He will sit by his food bowl until the water bowl is dumped and filled with fresh water.

The younger one has a "lovey" (stuffed animal without the stuffing) that she has to carry with her everywhere she goes. She will sometimes chew on it, but most times just carries it with her, puts it down and then lays on top of it. If you take it away from her to wash it....she sits by the laundry room until it is done.

all I can say is THANK GOODNESS I am at work....just found out that the stupid dog has barked for 3 hours straight at the food bowl. Mind you it was completely full but she would not eat it! I am actually dreading coming home now!

My one pug Otis had a "baby otis" that was a pug slipper for a child. He would carry that thing around by the nose and used it as a binky! He would have to have it to sleep with and would suck its nose. He never chewed it. Was in perfect condition except the nose that was like a long rock by the time. Then the yorkie that guards his toys came into the picture. Bruno destroyed that toy in like a day! So my niece gave Otis another teddy that we named Baby Lydia. Otis took to sucking its nose! Until the day he died, you would tell him to get baby lydia and he would run and grab that toy!

Yep, ask Penelope where her lovey is and she will get and lay it down next to her. Funny thing is she knows exactly where she left it. The other day, she left it in her crate and I had closed the crate door, so she was "pawing" at the crate to get the door open to get her lovey. Her lovey is a pink flamingo stuffed animal that has no stuffing in it....
