Hey guys, so I got my 36" Nova Extreme 4x39 watt T5HO light fixture and so I have a few questions for those who have this unit.

    1. I was under the impression that the fan would come on automatically as soon as one set of lights came on...but in my unit, the fan has its own transformer. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

    2. Since this light has actinic and daylight bulbs, how do you manage to cycle the lights including the moonlights?

    3. What kind of timer would you recommend? I've been to Home Depot, Walmart, etc. All the have are pretty bulky timers and since I have to plug the atinic, daylight, fan and moonlight (if necessary), I haven't been able to figure out a way to plug everything and time it at the same time without having to run extension cords all over the place. Any suggestions?

    4. My tank's still cycling, are actinic/daylights recommended at this point?

Thanks for the help guys. Bye.

Its intended to be on a timer, thats why there is 4 power cords. I have a 48" 4x54w nova extreme. I use a CA digital timer with 4 timed outlets, 4 regular. My actinics are on for 10hrs, 1hr before and after my 10,000K's kick on. 10,000Ks are on for 8hrs. When my actinics cut off at night, the moonlights kick on.

Can you send me a private message or explain to me how that timer works... is it this one?Aquarium Light Timers: Coralife Power Center and if so, how does it work really? what I'm trying to ask is this: can you set this time so the Actinics come on first, then an hour later the 10ks? and same at night when lights go out? and do you have your moon lights on this timer as well? See, I was going to buy the one from the link, but I got a bit confused...please explain or send me a PM. Thanks bud.

Another thing...do you have your lights on top of a glass/acrylic cover or is your tank uncovered...I'm asking 'cause according to the manufacturer, it's supposed to go on top of a fully covered tank...

Mine is similar, except mine is digital, it doesn have the dials on it. Im not sure how the coralife one works, but I have heard bad reviews about them. Thats why I went with a different kind. Mine is a serious pain in the rump to figure out, but once you get it worked out, it works great.

    Outlet #1-actinics-1:00pm-11:00pm
    Outlet #2-10,000K-2:00pm-10:00pm
    Outlet #3-empty
    Outlet #4-LED Moonlights-11:00pm-1:00pm

You can use #3 for a refugium light for reverse lighting.

I have this one and it's really pretty confusing...I haven't figured out how to configure it for 2 different on and off times. I lost the directions....:( I know how to do it but can't explain it to ya. I'll probably end up confusing you even more. Anyone out there able to decipher this and explain it to us, in a way we(I) would understand?:confused::confused:

    TIA!
