just was watching blue planet, and i was watching the parrot fish bite stony corals in half and it got me wondering what a parrotfish bite would look like,

probably the same as a large puffer. They can bite off a finger.

I make it a policy to keep my fingers away from anything that can essentially eat rock and poop sand.

I think they would take off a finger.

When I volunteered for the Tennessee Aquarium I got to make "Parrotfish balls" to feed parrotfish. The balls were made of spinach and other greens, inside of dental plaster. The stuff felt like a rock after you made it, with little bits of green veggies poking out of it. The idea was the parrotfish would bite at it and chip at it to get at the good stuff, which is what they do in the wild anyways. Pretty strong stuff...

Tossing the balls into the system was fun. We got to go out on the catwalk over the tank and the goal was to lob the things into the proper area where they land in front of glass viewing ports so guests could see them. I had good aim :D Especially considering the 8 foot sand tiger sharks swimming under us on a flippin' catwalk.

My mom always tells the story of when she was a teenager (Im 29 so that was a while back!) in Bermuda. She was dangling her toes of the end of a dock when a big blue/green parrotfish came up and chomped her toe. Her nails were painted bright red and she thinks that was the reason for the 'attack.' Either way, no flesh was ripped and both parties involved took off in opposite directions.

Twice. we went diving at epcots tank thing... um DiveQuest... anyways we were being briefed in a little entrance ramp and this parrotfish had creeped up and bit my ankle... I recognized the fish and the possibility of spending the rest of my life w/o an ankle, so naturally i screamed like a 12 year old girl. (they also warned us not to get close to the dolphin area b/c they were territorial and would kill us O.O ) Second time was doing a swim-through. one came out and took a piece of my fin.
