Stokes State forest is GREAT IME.

Def pretty rocky in a lot of areas - but if you look hard enough you will find some fantastic singletrack through some seriously atypical jersey terrain!!

I have seen many a black bear and coyote back there. Still waiting to spot a mountain lion and apparently there are more and more rattlesnakes up there every year too!!

Also notable would be the Sussex Branch Trail - very flat and wide - great training grounds - also beautiful countryside.

Stokes/High Point are really quite good - you can go from flat open trail to 1000'+ decent/vert on single track with some seriously fun wash out gullies.

Hydraulics are the only way to go. does not even need to be hard core down hilling. Just plain good brakes. I have a set of Hayes that are about 10 years old.... same pull today as ten years ago. Stopping in wet, no squeal, killer modulation, no wear on your rims, no fade.... all the brake you will ever need.

Long time mountain biker. Not so much anymore... looking at road. Want a new bike so bad I can taste it. Training for a Half Ironman this August. Already riding here.

I was on a run the other day with a friend and we passed a lady... my friend knows her and she is a monster... does competitive Ironmans... I joke that I wish I was half the woman she is.;D

We'll see... I've comuted by bike for years but it was always to support my Mt. biking. Not so sure I like straight road riding... not even close to being in the "hills" of Colorado... but giving it a shot. Did a century last year. Figured I would do a tri this year. So far training is going well. Never did any organized full on training for anything. Just rode my bike for years..... One year I put 4500 miles on my Mt. bike.;)

I'm doing the Boulder 70.3. Things kick off for me in June. A 60 mile ride first weekend, then a 10 mile run in hills next wekend followed by my first sprint tri the weekend after that. An olympic tri in July and the HIM in August. Already doing Oly distance bricks every week. I grew up swimming... my worst area is running. Can't really stand it, but I'm doing it which is more than I thought I could. Finished my first 10K last month in 54 min. Nothing to shout about but great for me.

Right now it sucks... all my money is tied up in selling our house and buying another. Getting geared up and doing events is all I can swing this year. Still training on my Mt bike. Will be borrowing road bikes for my events. Not ideal but it will work. God I want a new bike bad...:)
