Anyone else annoyed by LFS?

I would like to see what people say about their LFS. the ones i go to in southern california all seem to have a different story which drives me nuts because when i really need the help i seem to be more confused than i was before i went for help. i know that learning is from doing is normally best but sometimes good advice would be nice also when your not sure which direction to go. am i the only one that feels this way about LFS??

 

i am lucky to have a very good lfs but even with my amazing lfs i still use 3reef to learn as much as i posssible can.

 

+1 newreef, I always get as much info. on here as possible before going to the LFS. I rarely ask them questions because like you said, I get inexperienced answers and end up being more confused than when I started. Definitely get answers/advice on 3reef before even going to the store.

 

Mine are pretty good, give good advice mainly. although most carry subpar overpriced dry goods.

 

One of my LFS is gret, the other isnt, he said tangs were not reef safe but I could keep an emperor angel in my 55. His main clientele are newbies or people who dont deal with their tanks

 

There's more than one way to skin a cat. If you were to ask a question about what you should do on 3Reef, you could very well get 5 or 6 different answers. They all might be good suggestions or maybe a couple of them are so/so, 2 completely wrong, and one best answer. That's why I encourage people to UNDERSTAND the answers rather than just getting an answer.
