Nice, I can't wait to get back on the water. My brother just bought a new boat and we haven't really been able to take it out yet except for the lake (a 28' Baja Sportfisherman w/ 2X 250 Merc. Optimax XS Racing engines) It is funny to see this thing passing up bass boats on tournament days!

I got a 22' mitch craft jet bay flier, merc 175 sportjet so I can run in the shallows or flats if I take it offshore, around here it's just a great lake boat or I can take it to the river and get in places where the other boats cant since I can plane on 3" of water

Yeah, I have been looking into getting a new boat and have been looking at some flats boats but the wife wants a "recreational" boat. I have an old 21' Stamas cuddy cabin but it just sits at my brother's house. It hasn't run in a few years.

Haha not really. I was kind of hoping for a couple more weeks of snowboarding but its 40s and sunny here and it doesnt take too much of that to put an end to snowboarding.

if you are serious about a flats boat try to find one with an inboard jet like this, man it's a world of difference in what kind of water you can get up in, I can get this 22' rig into spots kayaks cant get into

Should be a fun time on the lakes for you! Its gonna probably hit the high 40's to low 50's here. I definatelly want to boost up the temp about 10-15 degrees and hit the road with my convertible. Do a little traveling thats for sure!

It is funny you talk about taking your rig where kayaks can't go. My buddy and I go out from time to time in his triton (w/ johnson outboard). Get enough boose in him and he takes his boat right through this mud flat (you could almost get out and walk) into this little creek that ends up in this place so pristine and untouched by humans it is incredible. He has had to have his motor repaired several times though.

triton is a pricey boat to be risking like that lol

this thing is made for it, it's only real downfall is also it's greatest advantage and that is the jet system, they lose a lot of efficiency through that system and they don't handle real well at low rpm, but once you get used to them it's hard to go back to standard outboards, going to get the HO kit for this setup later this year, should boost it to around a 55mph boat when i do that, currently runs 40-45 which is booking it pretty well for a 22' boat
