My tank temp got up to 84 on Friday before I was able to get home and connect in my little 1/5 hp chiller and blow some more fans across the sump.

I got a little bleaching on my favorite coral colony, which freaked me out a bit.

Now the temp is sitting squarely at 77 - I guess that little chiller is doing the trick.

Anyone else have trouble or near miss?

Two of my tanks were up to 84 on Friday as well. I rely on AC's to keep the rooms they are in cool, but they were off that day. Neither have corals though, and the fish were fine. My reef tanks only got as high as 80 luckily.

I have an inwall ac unit in my condo that I've been running about 18 hours a day to keep my tank from overheating for the last month...

One advantage to having a basement man cave. My tanks are in the corner farthest from the door. Even during our only power outage still cool enough to not bother anything, Living on the same grid as the power company office probably helps not worry about power outages too. lol.

My tanks are staying at around 78, even with the 105 degree heat, thank god for Eheim pumps and LED's lol

We were 92* yesterday, my DT reached 84 and my QT reached 83 (no AC, yet and no corals). Cooled them by blowing a house fan over the surface and floating a couple ice bags. Dropped 1 degree in 15 minutes and had dropped to 81.7 over night. Going to set up a DIY chiller out of an old cooler, some long tubing, 2 pumps and some bags of ice. :)

Going to find a couple A/C units very soon.

my tank is set at 79. i was hitting 82 even with the ac blasting, just recently switched to leds and my tank is staying at 79 again. i had no idea that the t5s were adding that much heat to the water.
