I'm allergic to Euphylliidae. (Hammers, frogspawn, elegance, torch, etc). The more exposure you have to them, the more the reaction will be. Wear gloves. Some people are allergic to other corals. It's a good idea to wear gloves for most people....there's some pretty nasty things swimming around in our tanks. Tuberculosis would be one of the worst (Mycobacterium marinum).

I've handled many, many corals in my life. I'm allergic to only one Genus. You may be allergic to one as well...I can't tell from the info provided. There's no reason to be alarmed...I recommend that all people wear gloves.

I once was moving the live rock around and got a load of micro hairs stabbed into my fingers from a stomatella snail, That made my whole hand swell up!

Get some sleeves or long gloves. Some corals we house in our tanks are highly toxic and can make people have some bad reactions. Some things like palys and zoos can make you go blind if you are not careful.

Now a sad story that one of our local reefers told me about was that his labrador ate a couple polyps of zoas (5 or so) and it killed his dog. Very sad, but a very good warning.

I no first hand that palys are no joke.... In my newbie days I had a huge colony of palys that I killed with my hand in the tank by scraping them off. BIG MISTAKE. I didnt use gloves or anything. bare hands. I went to bed that night......

I had a delusional reaction. High fever, rash like reaction couldnt get sleep cause I was in this terrible hallucinating stat of mind. Im scared to touch palys now. I wash my hands right when Im done these days.
