I have chronic dermatitis (dry flaky skin) on several fingers on my right hand. I'm right handed. That's the hand that goes in the tank and breaks off pieces of Rod's food. The dermatits started several months after I started my tank. I also got it when I had a SW tank 15 years ago. During the 13 years or so I didn't have a SW tank I was dermatitis free. I thin there's a correlation there.

I spend hours a day in the salt water (surfing) but never in my tank. I love how the salt water dries on my skin and I usually shower only before I go to bed. Nothing like being a salt-lick all day!

Saltwater soaking is good for you. Team that up with the sand pedicure and you are all set.

for most people at least. a swim in the brine makes Neosporin look like garbage. helps to prevent scarring too. I spend a good amount of time near oyster reefs, and get like 5-6 cuts a week, in 3 days you would never know any of them were there. By the next day they are almost fully healed, unless I get cut on the way out.

When I first started this hobby I had the same problem. Over time it seems that my skin has built up a resistance to it. I could spend all day with my arms in the tank now, as long as I don't have cuts, and it doesn't bother me.
