    hey all
i added a frogspawn a couple of weeks ago, its a tiny frag (about a 3rd the size of my little finger)
it was looking great, but within a week the centre started to come seperated from the bone and then the whole lot of flesh came off a couple of days later and now its floating around in the tank.
    the flesh still looks great
whats the best way i can attach it to something without hurting it?

i did not put it within direct or strong current as ive read up on it before purchasing it and it said not to do this. and understand the flesh is delicate

    why has it happened?
all water chemistry is fine, spot on everything

I got a frag of frogspawn that was like that, I made a spot sheltered from a lot of flow and wedged it down into the substrate blocking it with a small piece of rock. It is doing great, from what I am told by my lfs and some posts on some forums if your water parameters are right given time it will grow a new skeletal structure.

Super glue? You should try to not handle the fleshy bits at all, but sometimes you have to I guess.

The other option would be to fill a small glass with rubble and put the frag in the glass, with the glass in the tank of course, and give it a few days to find a rock to reattach itself to.

Polyp Bailout!!!!! A clever, last ditch effort, when stressed, they will release some of the polyps/heads. They do this in hopes for a good current to take them to the promiseland.

Yup usually not a great sign. you can try bridal veil or the plastic bags that onions come in. You know the mesh fishing net type. You can wrap the coral around a rock and use the mesh to secure it.

Do not try superglue on that frogspawn, it doesnt work. The growing back of the skeletal structure will take a long time, this is a problem that will take a while to correct itself. The frogspawn will grow it back if you can find a good spot and leave it alone, and have good water quality. Mine is growing the base back but it has taken a few months. As far as it not being a good sign, my frogspawn has more than tripled in size since I got it and it didnt have a skeletal structure, it is a little harder to place in the tank but they can and will thrive.
