    I'm laid off right now too, but I get laid off every year during the winter. Now I am just hoping that there will be a job for me in the spring...

    Bonus, I thought that was stricken from the dictionary or atleast all companies vocabulary. Haven't seen one in 2 years yet our company has grown some 25% each year. More work less play is what they say. 39 and I swear I got ulcer's and the chest pains just don't go away as quickly. Sorry to hear you got laid off.

    these times suck truley! I am sorry for everyone elses losses....
    I was just notified today that my hours starting this week are being dropped from 40+ hours a week to 24 hours. What is worse is I dont get benefits where I work, so I am paying COBRA on top of that....which is scheduled to end. Whenever my company realizes that I am over the 18 months on COBRA, my insurance premiums will jump to $1400/month due to my health conditions! So now I am having to make the decision on what to do with health benefits on top of this! Sorry...just ranting and worrying! I know a lot of people are far worse then me, so I am very grateful for what I have but still a shock. And guess how the company announced these cuts....by email! Nice...we only have some 20 employees, cant even bother to call each one of us to tell us the great news!

    I also own my own company(hubby and I) and it's in the special events industry.....wanna talk about taking a hit? no one is having trade shows, big weddings or needing tents with power and a/c. Winter is always our slow season, but the whole of 2008 wasn't real good. Hopefully 2009 will pick up...:-/ All I can do is hope and eat the dried purple hulled peas I grew this past summer LOL

    Well little update here. I had gotten some more jobs if anyone cares and just started back working after about 1 month of nothing. I just hope it keeps up. hang in there everyone. good luck to all
