I think Reefmonkey is also in the process of doing a LED setup.

I'm not too sure about what brands and such are good. A LFS that I visit freqeuntly out here in AZ runs mostly, if not all on LED's.

LED's are the way to go. If your worried about the technology not being there then check out my albums. I have had great growth and equally as great coloration.

I lost my job  All of my projects have basically come to a screeching halt for the time being.

@ OP... Look into 3reef sponsor rapidled.com for DIY retro kits. They have great prices and are good guys, always willing to help. I've met Mike and Eric in person and when my financial life gets back on track they will be the first order I make.

So you made it over to Reef Culture I see. ;)

On topic: I've been running CREEs for a few months now and I wouldn't ever have anything but LEDs ever again. Things are growing just fine and just as good as they did under MH. I did a Rapid LED kit personally, but the process is the same. You may find my build thread helpful: http://www.3reef.com/forums/i-made/diy-dimmable-rapidled-kit-converting-mhs-96138.html
