It's almost time to start pruning my red mangroves and I want to make bonsai's of them. I have 30 with leaves and aerial roots. Before I asked this ? I searched the web with every keyword and phrase I could think of but only got stories of people doing it but not HOW they did it. I don't want to just go hackin on my trees and kill them off lol.
So if you've got XP in this area and know what roots or leaves to trim or have a lead to the how to directions for dummies please share. ;D

All I've been able to find so far was trimming the spear above the first set of leaves (leafs?) Used to trim alot of plants back in college that weren't mangroves by any means lol and all that did was cause them to spread out instead of grow up. Apparently you can make a true bonsai which involves trimming roots if I'm not mistaken.

What are you looking for? How to make the exposed roots, roots growing over a rock, etc. or are you asking more basic things like how to pinch apical and axial buds to shorten internodes and fire off dormant buds? Do you have any bonsai experience?

I'm gonna build supports with egg crate and put them in a seahorse tank I'm planning so I want to stunt height as well as cause some spreading. The way I'm planning it I'll have access to both corners so I can trim roots that may force thier way into the silicone. And no I don't have any bonsai experience.
