Anyone ever use Fluval Surface Skimmer ???

    Yep. I have one on my intake for my Mag 350. It only skimms the film off the surface so dont let the name fool you. It is a surface skimmer, thats all. Yes they work well for this but are knid of a pain in the ass to get installed on your tank but does a great job.

    i use one as well. it does do a great job for the surface. but it is a pain to set up so it takes the right amount of flow so it doesnt suck in air.

    Hi,

    I have a fluval 203 in a 30 gallon tank which I am turning into a reef tank. Would this work as both a skimmer and a filter? Or would I need another filter if I hook it up to my fluval? This does the same job as one of those $100 skimmers?

    It is not a protein skimmer...so no, it won't do the same job as a $100 skimmer.

    All that does is draw the water off the surface of the tank water (skims the surface) but it does no filtering . It must be attached to a cannister filter.
