ok so i think my cycle either got cut short or just stalled, my water chem is ammonia .50 ppm trites about .25-.50 ppm and trates setting at about 20ppm.

someone told me to use either bio-spira or start smart since my lfs only had smart start i wanted to know if i should use it, from what i read its only the cycling bacterium in it no chem's or anything.

i only want to get everything where it should be and i know my cycle stalled or went short cause i never got nice and brown as some would say. fyi i already have 10 1-2 in damsels in the tank.

I used smart start on my 100g. It definitely works. I put it in, went and got two fish about an hour later, tested everyday for 2 weeks and never seen a rise in amonia or anything. I would recommend that over biospira IMO.

I had pretty good luck using the TLC Smart Start product in our 40B. I started with 40lb dry rock and 40lb dry sand, added the Smart Start and dosed with ammonia. It took about two weeks for my cycle to finish.

You have 10 Damsels in a 55 gallon tank? Hmm, in my experience Damsels are little evil devils. Good luck.
