I have one and the thing is crazy. I don't know how intelligent it is, but it likes to swim upside down lol. I'm assuming that it is eating algae and things out of the sand, I forgot to ask the store. They are a pretty funny creature.

everything i have read on them says they need a very large tank, they do seem like something cool if you have the tank to house one.

Interesting animal, but not appropriate for a reef environment. They also are not very hardy from what I have heard. They tend to knock things down and disturb corals etc.

I had a Horseshoe in my 75g years ago and gave him to my cousin because he kept on making a mess in my tank. He was no bigger than 2.5 inches but man......he could make a mess! He couldn't do anything in my cousins 125g because his rocks were freaking boulders LOL! He met his match!

i had one in my 55, my g/f called him "the tank" with good reason, wouldnt reccomend one unless all of your rock/corals are secured in place.

I have one, he's small, and since I have sand,he does a nice job cleaning it. So far he's too small to move my rocks. The LFS said they would adopt him out when he gets to big. I have never seen him swim upside down though. He buries himself until he's hungry! Otherwise, no problems with him so far!

Problem with them is that they will eventually starve. Have had a few and they don't make more then a year or so. They estimate for them to get enough food they need hundreds of yards of sand to sift through. Other then that they are pretty good at stirring up the sand.
