anyone have a horseshoe crab?

    They actually are not over fished, at least not yet. They are not worth much, only about 25 cents a pound so it's not hunted alot and they usually take around 2 years before they are old enough to reproduce, and they usethemfor some kind of medicine, they do not use for crayfish. Never heard that.

    did you even read this? Horseshoe Crabs sorry my mistake. conch and american eel. i thought eating a crayfish would be weird enoungh. from the show i watched it is being hunted like mad! its the bait of choice for catching these eels.

    Maybe I'm the upper states, but here on north Carolina there is a healthy population, not many people even bother with them here, I mainly catch blue crab, and various fish, I just get those usually by accident in nets, they can get huge, and live very long

    And know it says ten years until sexual maturity but I have witnessed very young males no more than a couple of years old mating with large females so maybe that's true for the females

    why does everyone say mantis shrimp?? i like them but my lfs cant be sure of the kind until it gets here(compnay doesnt specify). they said a peacock would be fine in my ten gallon but i know better. they need 29 gallon and he isnt welcome in my reef!!!

    Why do we say mantis shrimp!!! I'll tell you why- they are the best aquatic creature you can get! So get one already!

    Yep! Cephs are sweet and intelligent too, but they are short lived, expensive, and hard to keep.

    i mat get one depending on teh size and type available at the lfs. if its a peacock i wont put one in a ten gallon unless its tiny tiny.
