So in the matter of maybe 5 hours my tang went from being really dark and beautiful to looking really pale, especially around the mouth, and skid dish.

I've been reading everywhere about it and in every situation I have read it ended in death.

It still eats a lot all parameters are perfect and it looked fine about 5 hours ago. It does seem to be breathing a little hard.

The only thing I can think is last night I was feeding my duncuns and the fish will pick at them and steal their food away. So I kept the little piece of rigid airline tubing in the tank to scare them away from it, by this I mean hovering around the duncuns with it. The tang did freak out and hide for awhile and also went crazy fast in the back of my rockwork.

    Any help?

If it's remaining pale for prolonged amounts of time, it's def stressed about something. How big is the Tang, what type is it, it's in a 30g right?

What other fish are in there with it?

This is the first time it has turned pale. It is very small, maybe 2". I have one royal gramma and 2 percula clowns.

How long have you had it & what type of Tang? I wouldn't think the air hose would scare it consistently, hmmmm. So it's been pale for the past 5 hours and hiding?

I've had him for almost 2 weeks now.

I was giggling it fastly to make the clown not come close to the duncans, I remember one time I put the air line in there to scare the clown it flew back and forth behind the rocks from being scared.

He is swimming around normal now and also eating at the seaweed I put in. Just still way more skiddish than it was before.

What type of Tang is it? I would do your best not to scare it anylonger, they are susceptible to Ich and getting stressed constantly is def not good.

    Kole Tang.

I'm gonna try and not go in the room until tomorrow. Looking from afar it is acting normal. Pecking on everything in site and attacking the seaweed like crazy.

Hopefully that is a good sign.

Have you tried looking at the tank around a corner or something to see if the tang is only pale when you're around or just constantly?

I would say someone or something scared the piss out of it. I would lea e him and the tank alone for a few days to let him calm down.

He is pale constantly. I can see him from my living room the way our hallway is set up.

Thanks Matt, I'll try it out. How are the anthias?
