Please share your equipment and supplements and any secrets. I have a mainly softies tank with some zoas, leathers, shrooms, palys etc. I read this threads about people having to frag stuff and how they cant keep certain things under control. My coral dont grow worth $#!&. My colonies are the same as they were for as long as I have had them. Only thing I've seen is stuff move to adjacent rocks. I finally got around to settin up a fuge so hopefully it will help. I used to run a phosphate reactor. I stick with regular water changes, have the fuge, run purigen and chemipure elite in my fluval. My corals look good and tank is doing well. Plenty of (UGLY) dark green coralline on the back of my tank but I just want that great coral growth. My parameters are all in check. So please tell me wt else I can do. I also target feed and add phyto.

modded CPR bak pak, 2 koralia 2's, 10g fuge, fluval 304, 2 175w MH w/10k reeflux bulbs at 8in above tank.

What are your parameters? Ca, Alk, Mag, Phosphate, Nitrate?

Sounds like you have a good amount of filtration going on, maybe your water is too clean. I've heard of some people having trouble with softies etc when the water is too clean, maybe try stopping on of your levels of filtration periodically or something to let some junk build up?

I been thinkin to shut off my skimmer for a few day to see what happens. I havent checked my levels recently but couple weeks ago they were all good.

Ph 8.2 Alk 11 Calc and Mg were in range as well. Phosphate are less than 0.5. Need to check nitrates but they should be low with all the stuff I have controlling it.

softies are harder to speed up... you can give them some vitamin supplementsto help but thats about it :/

id say that you can speed up the growth of a lps considerably by target feeding it with the right foods

Can you believe, my gsp is as it was as well. I must admit though after adding the fuge, I have seen a response in the coral being more opened up than before so maybe theres hope. Even though my chaeto hasnt grown at all.

My zoas are doing really well, everytime i frag them they seem to grow faster. My frogspawn looks amazing.

Everything is doing better since i automated my topoff water,Alk,Ca,Mg.

    My Alk 9 dKH
    Ca 400
    Mg 1350
    Nitrates 0

I dont test for anything else. I will start testing phosphates someday.

I also do a daily dose(20 drops) of Phytoplankton,Microbacter7,Freeform Amino acids, Strontium

If you want your zoas to grow fast, dont blast them with high flow or light. Blow off the detrius from you corals, they will grow a lot faster.

everything I put in my tank grows like weeds. It always takes about a month for them to start growing but after that adjustment period they go wild. I've been covering my GSP with reef epoxy to keep it contained. Details about my set up are in my sig link.

I noticed that you don't run a skimmer, I am going to try this for a while and see how it goes. I am also going to order some mangroves for my fuge from reefcleaners.

Actually I do run a skimmer now. I grow a lot of SPS though so I need it. I would try maybe putting your skimmer on a timer. Run it on the night cycle so while the coral is out to catch light it can also absorb the extra nutrients.
