But your bioload is really high so I'm thinking that Carbon may be your best bet at putting a dent in it. I have dosed it in the form of sugar, and it worked like a charm. A friend of mine used vodka, and he had really good results as well. But you should try the other things first.

NP, let me know if you would like some chaeto, it grows so fast, I just throw it away.

30 fish in a 80 gallon tank, interesting. i hope there all under one inch in length. that is part of your problem, fluval the other. with that bioload a refugium would help. a sump for the skimmer. both would add water to the system to make levels lower.

just for entertainment heres some pics from under my tank.

maybe you could take a regular bucket, 5 gallons or so, plump it in the line to your sump (if you have one) and fill it with sand. just so the water is about 1 or 2 inches on top of the sand at a rate that wont stir up the sand. Take a standard clamp lamp with a Compact flourescent or PAR bulb with a Kelvin rating of at least 65000 and point it at the top of the bucket. Put some chaeto in there and you should be set. The DSB and the chaeto will both eat nitrates. just dont stir the DSB up after it being set up. Im gonna try to rig one up to my system. Anthony Calfo reccomends this method as do some others.
