    Hi

I've been reading online a lot about pumps for my new build, and stumbled across a sedra 20000 brand new in the box from a friend dirt cheap so I read up and all reviews seem positive, its quiet and performs well with the option of running internally or externally.

So I figured WTH I'll give it a shot. So I picked it up, popped it apart to have a look at the innards. And low and behold.. metal screws holding the impeller cover on.

So rather then going out and buying another new pump I'm opting to use this externally inline from the sump so the screws have no water contact.

Just thought I'd ask if there's any problem doing this? All the other parts are plastic and ceramic. It's just the screws only on the outside that I was concerned about putting it in sump.

Also may as well see if anyones using these and what your thoughts are on them. I fired it up in a empty tank(with water Duhh) ;) to see the noise level and am pleased so far with the low noise level.

    Thanks

Thanks proreef. That's what I've been reading a lot of people are using this model on larger skimmers. Which would mean its more then likely submerged so I'd doubt there's any problem with the screws at this point.

    But

Bump for anyone else who'd like to share opinions or experience with these.

    Thanks

I've had several larger ones for return pumps, and though powerful, the magnet on the impeller always swelled and ruined the pump within a year. I wouldn't recommend to a friend; way too many other better pumps out there
