Power Filter: Bio System Power Filter & Surface Skimmer from Foster & Smith Aquatics

I have lots of stuff floating on the water surface so think the surface skimmer on one of those would be good for that?...Id also prob throw some carbon or some cheato or somethin in there...

Id prob get the cheapest one since its the smallest and already have a BIG HOB skimmer on the tank. Kind think if I get lots of cash for Jesusmas I might upgrade my skimmer an get a controller an a auto top off dunno though ha might be like mommy I want half a bass for Christmas. anyway back on topic wha you think about hob filter thing in the link?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks like it would be ok, but I do not know how it would fit on a hex if that is the tank, and then you are going to need some lighting for the chaeto. I have seen better designs for a HOB with modifications, but if your going for the surface skimming action it may do that just fine.

I have seen a newer version of the skilter out there, can not remember the name at the moment, but IME they are decent for the price.

Ill prob run some phosphate remover or carbon.

Hex is the same as any other tank its just really tall an hex shaped so no worries there ;D

mainly I jus want it for the surface skimmer

    So should I order it?

I have two of them one on my 56 Cube and one that I use for my Quarantine tanks when its needed. I like them and they do a really nice job of keeping the water surface clean. I also stopped using the replacement filter and bought some foam filter material and cut it to fit, I have found that this works much better. There is also enough room to remove one filter and put a bag of carbon in the spot.

But foster also has an add-on for other filters that turns them into surface skimmers that works pretty well. Aquarium Surface Skimmer
