The main tank is 180 gallons but with the sump and refugium, we have about 220 gallons.

I'm having the same problem :(

Here is my Elegance a month after being added to my 120. Great color and polyp extension!

This is my Elegance two months after being added to my tank. Poor polyp extension and the color morphed.

Wow, thats the 1st one I have seen that has the same colors as mine.

I know I am not going to "figure this out," since scientists study this day in and day out with no answer. But can you tell me where it is in the tank? Or better yet, post a full tank shot??

    Good luck with her.

When it was in my 120 it was located almost at the very bottom (near the sand but not in the sand). When it started looking bad I moved it into my refugium since they are from lagoons and naturally live in mud I thought it might do better there. It didn't get better there, it started to show more and more skeleton so I moved it into my 5 gallon nano because it has a higher nutrient level than my 120 and still no luck. I was able to nurse back a Red Blastomussa Wellsi and a Chili coral in my refugium!

This photo is when my Elegance looked great! My Elegance is in the bottom middle of the tank.

Wow, that looks so beautiful. My elegance deserves a tank like yours.

How much of the skeleton is showing??? A piece of LR fell on mine when I got it and it has a small piece of its skeleton exposed, but it hasn't continued to retract, which I guess is what happens when they go downhill.

Mine is very predictable. At night it closes up completely and is smaller than my zoa colony and finger coral. After 8 hours of light, it opens up and takes up about 30% of my tank's floor space.

One thing I have read is they like to have a good cushion of sand under them. The most amazing thing about mine is the Elegance allows my engineer goby to live under it at night and inside it during the day. Im trying to figure out what benefit the goby provides the elegance. Maybe just companionship??
