I just bought a diamond for my wife for our 20th. Lost the diamond out of her old ring and the ring had to be cut off.

I bought hers from Blue Nile and the transaction went well. It looks like you are buying one huge diamond! From what I read, the cut, color, and polish make a bigger impact on the diamond's visual appearance than the clarity. I bought a VS2 with G color excellent polish and Excellent symmetry. It looks really good. Unless your wife is going to regularly look at the diamond under a microscope I don't think there is a need to go better than VS2.

The stone's Color and Clarity in my opinion is what give a stone it's fire as my wife would put it. I would start looking at a good local shop to see the difference and then do some serious shopping. A diamond I have to say is one thing I would like to see in hand before purchasing.

I hear ya man. Good thinking 8) There's more to a relationship than how big of a rock can be put on the finger. If she requires a gigantic diamond to say yes she's obviously superficial.

Put the money to better things, like paying off a car, improving the house, etc. As you go save money and if the relationship is still going strong surprise her with an awesome ring down the road.

Good luck in the diamond hunt!

one of my client's is a jewelry store so I spent quite a bit of time there, I know with my wife's ring personally I went higher quality smaller size, it's only a 1/2 carat but I could've bought a 2 carat lower quality for the same amount, when you look at them under lighting even without a magnifier you can tell a big difference between them, really what it comes down to is go to a locally owned store, tell them what you want to spend on a rock and have them show you 10-20 in that price range then narrow it down from there

I'll give that a try this week. And no she does not require a large rock to say yes, but thats what I want to buy her. She is in no way superficial, she can break down and rebuild a chevy 350 by herself! I can't even do that lol!

How did you feel about buying a rock that you couldn't see first?

Kind of mixed but it worked out well. Took a long time to pull the trigger. Blue Nile has a 30 day return policy so if you're not happy with it you can send it back. I figured all of the specs of the diamond are what affect its look so I just went with the specs.

union has a 30 day policy as well. The specs on this one look good too I think, right? Just not sure about the measurements. The color and clarity seem to be about right, I think lol

All i know is that diamonds are a huge , but somehow legal scam.

Resale on them is nothing, but go to a jeweler and see how much a "new" one costs.

Yeah, maybe I am jilted, but at least I have a reason. Now I am looking to buy another one as soon as I can.

Want a nice engagement diamond ring and matching wedding band? PM me.

I wouldn't worry about the measurements like "table". Just look at the cut and make sure it is ideal. The cut should take all of that into account. I think yours look good. That's a huge diamond and with those specs it must be costing an arm and a leg.

    Best wishes
