lfs took my tang, and i guess cut off a little piece of the inner gill tissue, put it under a microscope, and he said it looked like vibrio. i cant find much info on this.

Anyone know anything? i got some kanamycin treatment stuff encase any of the other fish start to show signs.

Seahorse.org has a lot of info on it. It's a common seahorse infection found during necropsies.

well 2 dwarf angels died, and kole tang died. LFS did gill scrape said that it was vibrio bacterial infection.

Other fish are doing alright, still eating and soaking food in selcon. But i just don't know if its something i need to sterilize my tank from? or is it like ich and just is kinda always present but only appears when immune system lowers because of stress?

Finding vibrio on a fish actually doesn't mean the fish is suffering from the effects of the vibrio itself. Perfectly healthy fish can live forever testing positive. But in your case I would roll with Furan 2. It's what we frequently used for horses, wasn't too strong and was very effective.

I bought some medicine that starts with a K cant remember the name now. But LFS said only use it in a hospital tank because i guess it will kill the benificial bacteria as well as the bad. So unless my fish start to show signs (heavy breathing, anorexia, swimming weird) i am gonna just hold off. They are eating selcon soaked mysis shrimp as of now to help boost immune system. So hopefully that will help.

    How hot is your tank?

No, you don't have to sterilize your tank.

Most ailments are opportunistic on health. It's not quit like immunity and Ich, but is indeed a stress-borne disease. It also has been found in the juice of thawed frozen cubes.

I haven't seen Kanamycin used in years.

Dose you tank with vitamin C and get some E and C in to their food, if you can. Beta Glucan is way awesome, if you can get that into them.

If all that we're sick is now dead, I wouldn't medicate the unaffected ones unless something changes.

There is also non virulent strains of vibrio and your LFS cannot tell between those unless they are running cultures. Did they use a stain?
