The faucet adapter for my RODI unit broke. I figured it would be cheaper and easier to connect it to the cold water line underneath my sink. Does anyone know what parts I would need from home depot to do this? Links in this case would be very helpful. I am hoping to be able to do this today because I am out of top off water and had to turn my sump off. I'll attach a pic of the cold water line under my sink for reference.

    Thanks guys.

You need a feed water adapter. You unscrew the braided line from the valve, insert the adapter and screw the braided line to it. The adapter has a 1/4" side outlet that feeds the RO membrane.

Third photo to the right here is an example:

Most HD and Lowes will have them.

Hey. I searched for them on lowes and hd websites. Do they have another name that they may be listed under? Is that the only part that would work you think or could this be done with some sort of T connector with a valve?

You can use a self tapping valve but I do not recommend them. they leave a permanent hole in the coldwater line so cannot be removed.

Go into HD or Lowes and you will find the feed water adapter valves in the plumbing section guaranteed, lots of stuff does not show up on their websites. Just tell the guy you want to install a RO or an icemaker without tapping the line and he will take you right to them.

So I went into Lowes and asked the guy in the plumbing section and he gave me a few pieces to buy. I connected them up.. ran into a few problems getting the flexible tubing into the t-valve. I ended up putting a mug of water in the microwave and dunking the end of the flex tubing inside.. then it went right in. I also had trouble tightening the t-valve onto the existing cold water pipe.. I couldnt tighten it all the way because my hands.. and no tools would fit around the nut. I ended up finding a small pair of pliers that did the trick. The first time I turned the water back on it squirted everywhere. I'm just keeping an eye out for leaks now.

Thanks for your help AZ.. let me know what you think of the setup.. I know it isnt the valve you showed me earlier but it's working so far.8)

You might want to replace the brass feral with a plastic one.The metal feral may cause the plastic line to crack.Since you have already tightened the brass feral it is clamped onto the pipe so it will be necessary for you to remove the nut, cut the pipe next to the feral, push the nut back on and install the plastic one. This is easy and should only take a few minutes do not over tighten. You can get the plastic feral at HD or Lowes or any hardware or plumbing supply.;)

Is this something that I should do asap or are you saying that it can crack over time? Also.. whats a feral.. the thing that goes inside the flexible tubing?

That small circular wedge of brass is the ferrule. It's a basic component of a compression fitting which is what you have your feed line attached to. A better option (assuming you have 1/2" fitting on the valve and the hose) Would be to get the adapter AZ Listed. For now, what you have will work, but as mentioned, over time it may crack the line.

If you have 3/8" fittings (which it appears you do), you can run a 3/8" to 1/2" braided line to the 1/2" feed adapter and use a union/coupler to screw into the feed adapter. You can then run another 1/2" braided line from the adapter back up to your faucet. Just make sure to use plenty of teflon tape where the union/coupler threads into the feed adapter.
