I noticed this growth on the underside of one of my LR. It appears to be white and looks almost like mold on bread or something. Whitish clear only on the bottom of the rock that i can tell. and only in that one spot. I noticed it awhile ago and it hasn't changed much. if anything maybe gotten a bit larger in area. my tank is in the 5th week of cycle. almost there.

Most likely a sponge. Very good to have - helps filter the water.

Do you have any pics of it?
Pics would really help ID it.
From the sounds of it, I think it may just be the LR going through curing process.

ill try and post a pic it is really hard to see it in a pic. it is like a clear white moldy slime covering a good portion of the bottom of one of my rocks. rock is a long flat piece that is making a bridge from one rock to another. i have no idea what it is

I agree with KCBrad. If it's slimey looking, it's probably some type of sponge.

If you can, take it out and give it a whiff, If it smells very putrid, then its just decay of organisms on the LR. If it does not smell too bad then it's probably a sponge.
However, the downside to this is, if it is a sponge and you take it out of the water, the sponge will get air trapped in it and die off.

Before you scrape the growth from the rock, try the following.
See if the growth is spongy to the touch. If so then you may have most probably got a sponge growing on your rock.
If the growth is hard & brittle to the touch then it is most probably some bryozone colony.
