Mine do click from time to time on startup, but I account that to a cheap PH, not the smart wave.

I use 2 Hydor Koralia power heads.. One is for a nano and the other is a bigger model i cannt remember exactly. I really never had a issue. I did hear a click but was very quiet it didn't bother me nor fail. Also never ran in reverse

I've been running a smartwave with three koralias for a year now. I have had some clicking from my oldest ph. My biggest complaint is having to replace a front cover on at least one koralia every few months. I got a wp40 for Christmas so I'm gonna see how that goes, but I think my smartwave is going into retirement.

I have been using one for over a year now in my 46BF. It controls 4 Evo's (2 on one outlet, 2 on the other). The controller itself works just fine. Simple controls, either alternate, both pumps on, or both off. Then set the time before it alternates. I did notice that the clicking was subdued compared to my 55 gallon that used a Reef Angel as a wavemaker. However all 4 Evo's in the 46 still needed to have their covers replaced, so it doesn't seem to matter there.

Things I wish it had would be feed mode and a random function. If you have the money, I would suggest upgrading to Jebao's personally :)

They do have a feed mode though?

Do the covers cost money or does koralia send them to you for free?

I've thought about the jebaos, but imo they haven't been on the market long enough for me to get one.

I have a Smartwave attached to my two main koralia powerheads. I bought it about a year ago and have had it running ever since. I also have it alternating every 60 seconds and I find it gives good movement throughout the aquarium. I have heard the occasional click when the powerheads change, however this is quite common. I did read somewhere that if the powerheads are not koralia's, then the click can become louder! Cost wise, I got a very good deal on the smartwave and the two powerheads as a set at the annual fishkeeping show. Overall I think it is a good piece of kit IMO.

The smartwave doesn't have a timed feed mode like other controllers. You have to turn the dial to feed mode when feeding and then turn it back to the mode you want it on when done so it's just as easy to flip the power switch off and then back on again.

I had one but had clicking. I think someone on here cured the clicking by adding a plastic washer behind the impeller. Can't remember how thick though.
