anyone running bare bottom?

    my substrate (CC) is hardening in the bottom layers. i am pretty sure this is going to really suck one day.

    we are moving within a year or two and I plan on upgrading tanks in the transition or thereabouts. i am fairly certain that I won't do cc on that tank - which is unfortunate, I prefer the cc look - bc I want to have sand stirring fish.

    anyway, i thought someone might want to chime in on the terribleness of hardening cc substrate in the DT :-/;)

    One of my LF'S owner told me to go bare bottom because it's easier to keep clean, and naturally stays cleaner....but personally I like the look of sand. It's just a matter of preference, really.

    This thread isn't about my reef. I'm just stating my personal experience of having a DSB. As much as I'd love to Hi-jack this thread by posting pictures only you care about, I'll pass..

    Search this forum, and you'll see plenty of pictures I've posted of my reef throughout the years..
