I'm working on my 180 build and had the idea of running both LEDs and T5. I have some extra dual bulb T5 fixtures laying around so it wouldn't cost me anything more to do it. What I was thinking is running (2) dual bulb T5s (4 bulbs total) in combination with (3) SOL blues over the 180 (6x2x2). With the addition of the T5s I can run any combo of colors I want to help pull in some of the spectrum that is lacking.

Anyone see a problem with doing this? Anyone doing it now? If so how do you like it?

    Thanks!

I guess it would depend on what setting you are going to use your Sol's on. That would help you pick your T5 bulb combination. That is going to be one bright tank!:)

I have thought about doing this as well. Maybe have the T5s come on for 4 hours in the middle of the photo period to create a "high noon" effect. Also, lots of naysayers think that LED grown corals only look good under LED's, this would eliminate that possibility

I have been thinking of adding a couple T5s to my LED setup but I am still letting the corals adjust to the higher light of the LEDs. I definitely don't need them but I have them so ......

I'd put some Fiji purples and 1 10kish bulub in to really help all the colors pop.

That's the exact bulb I was thinking about using.
