Little Giants and PanAm pumps are great for inline use, the people at MRC highly recommended panam inline pumps when I was talking to them about all the issues I had with my inline magdrive

I too run one on my ca reactor. It doesn't leak, however I have had a few of them seize up. I think they are way over rated

Where they installed internally or externally when they seized up?

I love them. They're powerful, easy to clean and when cleaning them, they are usually not dirty at all and quiet. The only negative side is that they do consume alot of elec. Luna

The female inlets of the mag drive pumps are usually a loose fit for the male pvc threaded fittings. You need to use a high quality plumbing sealant and just get it hand tight to make a good seal. If you crank down to hard to tighten it, that's when the inlet housings break. Also, the inlet housing cover screws only screw into the plastic case, and they can be easily stripped if you over-tighten them as well. That's where you'll have your leak problems. I had one mag 24 never to leak, but loud as hell - it sounded like a food processor or blender with ice in it, so it went back to Danner.

Me too bro, I sent it back and reinstalled the Mag-18. I couldnt beleive there was such a difference between the two. I thought it was just the pump that I had gotten.

Teflon tape also works great when fitting a pvc male to the Magdrive female housing.

I used teflon tape and hand tighted the PVC fitting. Mine was leaking from the case but I never took it apart. I'd rather not mess with it so I just ran it in-sump. Besides that the pump works great and is quiet.
