So my Nitrates have been at 20ppm for the last few months, in an effort to reduce them, I tried the Seachem Matrix bio media for the last 3 weeks (since people have had good results with it), and the only difference (other than adding the Matrix) was adding a finger leather, feeding is teh same etc .... well my Nitrates now just went up to 40ppm ...... Did a 25% water change, went down to 30ppm (makes sense) and now 4 days later back to 40ppm !
Anyway, my LFS just started carrying some Aquazone Nitrate Reducer filter pads, they are cut to fit, so I cut a piece to fit in my filter holder on my Red Sea Max 250 to give it a try. Has anyone heard of it or used it before ?

your better off to find the source of the problem, research, then fix it.

believe me since me tank's been setup, I've been looking since the day it hit 20ppm. It just got to 40ppm recently after I added the Matrix in there.
I checked everything, feed as little as possible (nothing touches the ground, I feel bad for my Nassarius lol) I don't keep any Nori in the tank, feed the anemone only 1 shrimp or one silverside, haven't used frozen food in a long time, keep the skimmer running 24/7, clean the mechanical filters daily, added 2 Koralia 2's for more flow, I tested my top off water, my salt water, and also my tap water (although I only use tap to rinse out test tube and feeding stick and stuff) and nitrate for these 3 is 0, but my tank stayed at 20ppm.
Anyway, when I added that Aquazone filter 2 days ago, it was at 40ppm, now 48 hours later it's already down to 20ppm, and I haven't required any cleaning of the glass at all today !
I also noticed some of the green stuff that covered the back wall is now turning black ? And my finger leather looks happier than ever !
