anyone use melafix before?

just want to check see what others thought of this product. I have a foxface with cloudy eyes and places on his sides that look like his skin was burnt and is peeling. i see it says reef safe...is it?? I don't want to stress out the foxface by trying to catch it and put it in a QT so i'd like to dose my DT but only if everything else will be ok

 

I use it in my reef tanks. Helps out quite a bit, just make sure not to over dose, remove carbon and turn the skimmer off.

 

It is reef safe and is effective for bacterial and fungal infections.

When they say your skimmer will go crazy when you turn it back on.... that's an understaement..... I probably changed out another 5 gallons just through my skimmer cup.

 

ok so i'm guessing i want to leave my skimmer off throughout the whole treatment, not just like the first hour after dosing? it doesn't say on the instructions if you leave the skimmer off the whole time or just a lil bit after. i would just be concerned about water quality after a week without skimming and just running on mechanical filtration.

 

lol Leave it off the whole treatment time, Turn the skimmer on low if you have the option after doing the water change recommended. But yeah Be prepared to add more water to the tank. IF you turn the skimmer on High after all that, its like building up a bottle rocket ready to explode, it foams up so fast haha.

 

is Melafix a treatment that will work to treat velvet?
