Just curious if anyone uses these lights or have heard anything about them. This is my first Saltwater tank and would like to do things right not not break the bank. Would possibly like to have a Reef tank later down the lines. I do not have it up and running yet. I am still aquiring odds and ends.

If you are just doing a FOWLR for now, don't blow money on lights just yet. Instead, split this money between, sump/fuge/filtration, and get the best equipment you can afford. The cleaner your water is, the easier it will be to transition to corals...then you'd need some good lights.

All in all, I've never heard anything bad about that fixture. I use MHs and LEDs, so I have no experience with that fixture, and very little with T5s in general.

I agree with this post. If you have a fixure already use it until you have the rest of the system supplies purchased, in place and functioning well. Then buy the light fixture. If you have no lights then just use 2 of the bulbs light the tank. you will only need to run the lights when you wish to look at the fish.

I have all neessities to have my tank running (sump, plumbing, return pump, Protein skimmer, powerheads, ect...) the only thing I need are some lights, testing kits, salt, more substrate/lace rock, and an RO/DI unit (which i will be getting from a friend who is getting out of the hobby) basically all mechanical parts needed i have omit lights obviously lol

hmm...this is a difficult question. While this is a good fixture I would generally say, that after you get the necessities, to buy the lights you will have, for the long haul. But with new technologies coming out, LEDS are slowly becoming the lighting of choice, even in reef tanks. Several brands now are coming up with reef-capable LED lighting.

So at this point, I would say hold of on reef lighting until you set it up as a reef. Get the lighting just for a FOWLR now. When you decide to change to a reef tank, whenever that may be, LED may end up being your choice. It is cheaper in the long run & will be just as good for par(with technical advances).

For m 29g reef, I am looking into Boosted LED & Marineland.

I would like MH but honestly am not too familiar with them other than most people recommend them as the best choice in reef outfits since they have most lumens per watt. But purchasing 2 pendents aswell as ballasts for each seems too costly too me. But i guess thats why im here to get some expert advise!

How much is a decent LED fixture vs, say a decent MH (keep in mind i do need 2 pendents lol)

    What fixture/brand would you reccomend?

I thought the same thing for MH lighting. Plus the cost of, and running, a chiller. With T5HO, bulbs will need to be changed every 12-128months(I think that's right?). 6 bulbs will be anywhere form $100-200, depending on brand & what bulbs you pick.
