I use moguls. See no reason not too. My lights are already overkill for my tank :p

    PFO 400w Dual HQI Ballast (AQ2 400 HQI) - eBay (item 140241089541 end time Jun-17-08 16:11:20 PDT)
Personally i feel better buying a ballast like such (I have the dual 250 mogul version of this (only used the HQI version as an example)) and love it. Has switches for each lamp, comes in one housing, is pretty cool (Temperture and coolness wise :p) for magnetic ballast, and wires up in a cinch. Grabbed mine for 100 bux on reefcentral, WITH REFLECTORS AND SOCKETS.

Oh and check this out, hes got some good prices on Halide ballasts ;)

Not sure if hes close, but he has 2 Blueline 400 watt ballasts for 85 bux OBO. Grab two 30 dollar reflectors and your set.
I dont trust the ballast that comes with the ones you posted. Seems as if they are housed in plastic. Bad idea for a MAGNETIC ballast.

Very poor reflector design. You could go with a 250w SE with a good reflector such as Lumbrights, LumenMax, or LumenArcs and likely get just as much par.

The bulb appears to be some knock off, and likely not high quality and we do not know the ballast. Ballast make a very large difference in output for specific bulbs.

Unless you are over 30in or looking to grow very highlight SPS 250's should be plenty.

Although this is a bit more expensive, this set up is much more efficient and a much better reflector from a trusted source. They also have 400w kits.

are you having any algae problems? those are grow lights. they have red in the color spectrum of the bulbs.....the lumens are very low for an aquarium, they need more pure white and blue.
